Hidden Catches & Exclusions
- 1
Low Reward Rate: The 0.5% cashback is very weak. Unsecured cards like the SBI Cashback or Amazon Pay ICICI offer 5% returns. This card should only be used if you literally cannot qualify for those better cards.
- 2
Tiered Benefits Trap: The heavily advertised lifestyle perks (Spa, Health Check-up) are not available on the base card. You must lock away at least ₹1,12,000 in an FD to get the RuPay Select variant that provides these perks. An FD of just ₹1,000 will only get you the basic RuPay Platinum variant.
- 3
Add-On Card Fees: The add-on card fee is ₹150 for Virtual RuPay Platinum version, ₹250 for Physical RuPay Platinum Version and ₹500 for Virtual/Physical RuPay Select Version.
- 4
Reward Exclusions: No rewards on wallet loads, government transactions, utility payments, education payments, insurance and fuel transactions.

Expert Analysis
- 1
Best use cases: Parking ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 in an FD just to secure the card, linking it to Google Pay or PhonePe, and using it for small daily tea/grocery scans solely to build a CIBIL score from scratch over 6 to 8 months.
- 2
Who should get this card: Students, people with ruined credit scores (CIBIL under 700), or individuals without formal income documents who desperately need a credit footprint.
- 3
Who should avoid it: Anyone who already possesses a standard, unsecured credit card. If you already have a CIBIL score above 730, there is absolutely no reason to lock your cash into an FD just to earn a meager 0.5% return.
- 4
Realistic reward expectation: If your credit limit is low (e.g., a ₹10,000 FD granting a ₹9,000 limit), your rewards will be pennies. Maxing out a ₹9,000 limit every month yields just ₹45 in cashback. You are getting this card for the CIBIL-building utility and the free airport lounge access, not for financial enrichment.
- 5
Comparison positioning in its segment: In the secured credit card space, it competes with the IDFC FIRST WOW card and the OneCard (FD variant). The Stable Money Suryoday card has a slight edge because it operates on the RuPay network (allowing UPI payments) and offers domestic lounge access without punishing spend requirements—two features frequently missing from competing FD-backed cards.
